The nomination period for the November 5, 2019 City of Santa Barbara General and Special Municipal Election will open on Monday, July 15, 2019 and close on Friday, August 8, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. Potential candidates should contact Sarah Gorman, City Clerk Services Manager, at 805-564-5310 orsgorman@santabarbaraca.gov to make appointments to pick up nomination papers during this time frame.
At this election, there will be races for Council Districts 1, 2, and 3 (five year terms) and District 6 (two year term – completion of former Councilmember Gregg Hart’s four year term).
District #3 Desperately needs a candidate. Oscar Gutierrez is incompetent. It is apparent at every Council meeting that he is controlled by the Mayor, Cathy Murillo, and has zero critical thinking skills. He asks city Staff crazy questions only a 3rd grader would ask. Gutierrez isn’t doing anything for the District. He is just another vote for the Mayor.
Anyone would be better than what we have now. Everyone needs to apply! Especially those edhatters who say they have the plan and can solve all the problems, prove it.
This sort of negativity is silly. No, “anyone” would not be better than what we have now. If you have specific objections to current policy and proposals for future initiatives please present them and ask someone (if not you) to run to see them implemented. Please try a positive approach.
Even though Anna Marie Gott has no plans to run for SB City Council, she would be the best one to represent District 6. All those who reside in District 6, please write in her name on your ballots this coming Nov. I am. She really knows how to get the facts straight, and she is all for the community. She is not a sellout nor she is all about self interest. “Vote for Anna Marie Gott for SB City Council, District 6!”
