Child Hit by Vehicle in Lompoc Flown to Cottage Hospital

A 5-year-old boy struck by a passing vehicle in Lompoc was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital on Monday afternoon.

At 1:15 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the 3600 block of Via Gala in Mission Hills, near Vandenberg Village. They found the child in the street after he had been hit by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured but the boy suffered moderate injuries. 

Fire crews transported the child to a nearby school where a Calstar helicopter was waiting to transport him to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. 

California Highway Patrol is investigating this incident.
