Chic-Fil-A has been closed since before New Year’s Eve. There’s a sign on the chain across their driveway but it’s too small to read unless you get out of the car and walk up to it. No explanation on their website. Can you find out what’s going on?
Hopefully, it will never open again.
They should close for MANY reasons… but still wouldn’t wish any of the staff to have covid.
I heard multiple (more than 3) employees tested positive. Seems plausible since they closed – not sure they would’ve had that response for a single positive employee.
Too bad any business is shut down due to the pandemic. I feel sorry for the owners, but especially the workers who do such a great job. We go to Chick-fil-A about two or three times a month (large lemonade, two orders of waffle fries, one order of mac-n-cheese, and a couple of chicken sandwiches). The rumor I heard several months back was that two more locations are planned; Milpas and Calle Real in Goleta. That certainly would reduce the amount of traffic at their current single location. I hope that they open soon so we can get our “fix.”
Screw working, amirite?

Wow they had a covid case and shut down with out the gov telling them what to do all on there own righteous indeed hope everyone gets better
I think if the OP had gotten out of the car and walked up to the sign to read it they would’ve known for sure instead of leaving it to a lot of conjecture and speculation here. SMH….
edhat will likely delete this whole post soon hopefully.
I thought this whole COVID thing was a hoax, and isn’t Jesus going to protect Chik-a fil?
One assumes, from their conservative free enterprise Darwinian philosophy, that they hire as cheaply as they can and provide as little benefits as they can and dole out protection as little as they can to keep the profits high. Maybe this is a sad and bizarre form of justice.
One who assumes is lazy. One who researches knows they offer similar pay and benefits as other similar businesses
Have some compassion on a business that was able to remain open and service it’s community.
If you don’t like the food don’t go there! I don’t go to In & Out, but I don’t go off on them either.
We’re local workers, local businesses, local residents trying to figure out this Covid & all the recent short notice changes that our Zoe’s fees may or may not be following personally.
How many of you nay sayers own a local business with local employees that has suffered ?
Please let us know your business so we can mirror your intelligently devised model of success through, “ the closed times, ok maybe a little open, ok only outside now, your closed, it’s only for “3 weeks” , it’s gonna be another 2 weeks, then we’ll decide. You good with that?
What percentage of positive cases are derived from restaurants and/or bars per the CDC, 1.5% of the positive.
Where are these positive cases from? You, your kids, hanging out with this “Covid family” or that and if course your mother “parental unit” & your siblings.
So stop your blaming & shaming and look in the mirror if you’re complaining.
Any of you have fresh stock & inventory that went bad? Employees you had to lay off, then try to rehire when they’re making more money in unemployment than they ever did before?
Wait Summer is approaching, you might be kicked find for who knows how long?
I tell ya, my buddy is happy he owns a liquor store. Their hours are longer than a drug store without questions, except are you 21?
Hell, if there’s a doubt as to his age & identity the store clerk can demand to see the legal papers of this person. It was an undercover detective looking for illegal alcoholic sales! All over a 6 pack of PBR!
I understand where we draw the line st looking at things that are suspicious on the surface.
God Bless and be safe.
If you do research it (from CareerBliss) , you will find:
Chick-fil-A employees earn $24,000 annually on average, or $12 per hour, which is 93% lower than the national salary average of $66,000 per year. According to our data, the highest paying job at Chick-fil-A is a Trainer at $60,000 annually while the lowest paying job at Chick-fil-A is a Crew Member at $17,000 annually.
Good on them for closing up if it’s due to COVID. Chik Fil A isn’t going anywhere. They do a booming business regularly, rightfully so.
Yes and that’s the same as most similar jobs.
I look forward to you starting a company and paying the highest wages in the nation.
Through the grapevine I heard that an employee had COVID so they closed for deep cleaning.
COVID, outbreaks at numerous local businesses, but unlike other counties, SB doesn’t publish the data on workplace outbreaks. Technically they are obliged to answer you if you make an enquiry about a specific business by name, but they do not publish data on businesses where the outbreaks are happening.
JAK, wrong, the comment is a rant.
Sbletsgetalong, that’s a rather long comment but a very thoughtful and though-provoking one. Thank you.
Before you publicly wish unemployment on dozens of hard-working people please tell us what you want to do to give them all jobs. It’s always easier to tear down than to build; to jeer than to offer constructive criticisms.
To all the people on this thread who offer nothing but negative comments, I have a few questions. First, how many of you can name the owner or any of the managers of this restaurant (no fair searching the internet. If you are wishing ruin, poverty, and failure in someone without even knowing their name you need to reflect on your own life). Second, do you really think that it is proper to either assume that everyone in the community shares your values and priorities or that your values and priorities should be forced on everybody else?(there is a lot of that going on in Washington right now – not a good look)
My ex-worker moved to Colorado and opened up a bunch of these restaurants and is now rich. When he was here he was a member of a conservative evangelical church that used to picket at planned parenthood. Is that good enough for you? Do I pass your tests? As a patriot, you have the right to offer your opinions in a peaceful way for others to consider. Nobody is forced to swallow them.
Looking at national averages for price/cost and comparing them to SB or even CA as a whole will generally not be very accurate(jobs, homes, vehicles, etc). You are assuming the average salary is somehow $2 under current minimum wage in CA. Also, if they are hiring at a certain rate, we have the right to determine if it makes sense to apply for a job there. I wouldn’t want to work there but obviously some people choose to.
“There’s a sign… but it’s too small to read unless you get out of the car and walk up to it.” HEY i have an idea….
Oh, maybe they’re closed due to not having enough healthy employees to run the place? Wow, if so, kudos to them. I mean it. Hard to believe though, when unemployment is so high, especially in the restaurant field.
