Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that charges have been filed against Robert David Ruiz, Sr. and Robert David Ruiz, Jr. stemming from a shooting involving two victims in Santa Maria on September 21, 2017.
Robert David Ruiz, Jr. is charged with two felony counts of attempted murder and two felony counts of assault with a firearm. The defendant is additionally alleged to have personally and intentionally discharged a firearm causing great bodily injury.
Robert David Ruiz, Sr. is charged with two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
Both defendants entered pleas of not guilty. The case is scheduled for a Preliminary Hearing Setting in Department 7 of the Santa Barbara Superior Court, Santa Maria Division on Monday, October 2, 2017.
