Santa Barbara County Firefighters are on the scene of a traffic incident that severely injured one person on Wednesday morning.
At 9:14 a.m., crews arrived in the 1200 block of Jonata Park Road near Buellton to discover a cement truck had rolled over.
The driver, a 77-year-old man from Lompoc, became trapped inside the vehicle and required heavy extrication that took nearly an hour.
The driver sustained major injuries and was transferred to Marian Regional Medical Center by helicopter.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) states the driver was heading northbound on Jonata Park Road at an undetermined speed when he lost control of the vehicle causing it to roll onto its side.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation but it appears that drugs or alcohol are not a factor, according to the CHP.
