We’d been wondering if the lovely Casa De Maria would be able to rebound after the massive flood damage there. Even a week ago we couldn’t see much work from overhead. Friday’s flight brought us hope as we saw equipment starting to dig out around the chapel and courtyard. We also saw reason to hope that the dorms and retreat center would be repairable. The office and main meeting room are still gone of course, as is the pool even though the little pool house is still visible. We got many other pix on the flight, but maybe like us you’re on overload from all the destruction? Shall I send any more to Ed?

The center has been providing their own updates on their Facebook page, see below:
So sorry for their troubles. My father-in-law’s memorial was in the chapel. When I was in the early grades at Mt. Carmel school our teachers, IHM sisters (nuns), treated us to a pool day and picnic at the convent. Huge treat to swim in a pool!
