Camper Fire Slows Down Highway 101 Traffic

By the edhat staff

Traffic on Highway 101 is backed up due to a camper that caught fire and spread to nearby vegetation.

Around 12:45 p.m. Monday, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) received a report of a camper trailer on the right side of the southbound lanes on fire near the Emma Wood State Beach exit.

An off-duty firefighter reportedly pulled over to try to extinguish the fire.

All southbound traffic was stopped due to smoke affecting driver’s vision.

CHP has not reported if there were any injuries or the circumstances around the fire but as of 3:00 p.m. the number three lane is still closed.

Edhat reader Lucky777 reported at 4:45 p.m. that traffic is still stop and go all the way to Highway 33.
