Toro Canyon Creek Bridge on State Route 192

Caltrans is continuing to rebuild and repair six bridges along State Route 192 following debris flows and flooding in the Montecito area this past January.
The demolition of the Arroyo Paredon Bridge (PM 15.50) has been completed. The next phase of construction will include the relocation of gas lines and the excavation of abutments.
Lash Construction of Santa Barbara is the contractor for the $10 million replacement of this bridge with a reopening of the bridge anticipated this fall. Motorists may detour onto Via Real between Cravens Lane and Nidever Road.
Abutments for the Toro Canyon Creek Bridge (PM 12.49) are complete. Construction will continue with the excavation/placement of slope pavement at each abutment. The reconstruction of this bridge is expected to be complete in August.
Construction related to the new abutments for the Romero Canyon Creek Bridge (PM 10.92) continues. The installation of steel rebar is underway with concrete work anticipated to begin next week. The reconstruction of this bridge is expected to be complete in late September.
The Montecito Creek Bridge (PM 8.12) is expected to be demolished this month following the completion of the relocation of utility lines.
Barricades and locked gates secure each location with detours available via local roads. Emergency responders will maintain access to these locked areas in the interest of public safety.
Construction to replace the railing along the San Ysidro Creek (PM 9.6) Bridge includes the installation of steel rebar this month followed by concrete work. Caltrans will work to maintain two-way traffic as much as possible during construction.
Toro Canyon Bridge (PM 12.14) remains open under one-way traffic control via stop and yield signs which will remain in place until all bridge rail repairs are complete.
Construction at this location will follow the completion of work at Toro Canyon Creek due to ongoing utility constraints.
The contractor for the $20 million project to replace these five bridges is Security Paving Company of Sylmar, CA. These projects are scheduled to be complete by the end of this year.
A segment of State Route 192 is open to motorists but through traffic is strongly advised to continue using US 101. State Route 192 remains closed between Sycamore Canyon/Camino Viejo Road and Cravens Lane.
