Having access to veterinary care improves the lives of pets and their people. Yet, for many families, gaining that access is difficult, unless pet wellness services are brought directly to a family’s neighborhood. This is why C.A.R.E.4Paws rolls out its third mobile veterinary clinic to serve Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo (SLO) counties.
The official launch takes place this Sunday, August 20, at The Maker’s Son in Los Alamos, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Guests will have the opportunity to tour the new vehicle and learn about the organization’s Mobile Community Medicine & Spay/Neuter Outreach program, while also enjoying appetizers, beer and wine and music by Jesse Rhodes. C.A.R.E.4Paws has provided free and low-cost mobile wellness services and other critical resources for pet families in need in Santa Barbara County since 2009. In 2022, it brought its mobile clinic services to SLO County. In 2023, the organization is on track to assist 15,000 dogs and cats with veterinary services, including spays/neuters, vaccines, dental care, medical exams and treatment for various types of infection.
“The human-animal bond is so powerful, and we want to do all that we can to help preserve that bond,” says Isabelle Gullö, C.A.R.E.4Paws’ executive director and cofounder. “Thanks to our mobile clinics, C.A.R.E.4Paws has a steady presence in the community, assisting pet families right where they live and removing barriers that otherwise often prevent animals from receiving critical care.”
C.A.R.E.4Paws’ new mobile clinic, the result of a three-year fundraising effort, is much larger than the organization’s two older, 26- and 22-foot units. With a double surgery suite, added equipment and ample kennel space to house animals, including more large dogs, the new unit allows the organization to increase both the number of pets served annually and the geographical reach of its services.
