On Sunday, November 24, 2019, at approximately 5:42 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies along with fire and medics were dispatched to the area of Avenue of the Flags and Highway 246 for a report of a hit-and-run traffic collision involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, deputies found the pedestrian victim in the road with serious injuries and confirmed the suspect vehicle, later identified as a gray Chevrolet Silverado, had left the scene. A witness followed the Silverado towards Lompoc and provided Sheriff’s Dispatch with a vehicle description and license plate number before they lost sight of the vehicle in the Lompoc area.
Sheriff’s Deputies from the Santa Maria substation were listening to the call and staged in the area of the home address for the registered owner of the Silverado in the City of Santa Maria. At approximately 7:17 p.m. the suspect, 26-year-old Luis Alberto Ledesma, arrived at the address in the Silverado and was ultimately arrested. The Silverado was impounded and Ledesma was booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail for felony hit-and-run and two counts of felony DUI with a bail of $100,000.
The victim was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The victim’s identity and condition are not available for release at this time.
The Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Response Team responded to the scene and is investigating this incident. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call Deputy DeLeon at (805)961-7519.
“10:51, can you read?”………………DUI means “drunk?” I think DUI means “driving or operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol OR OR OR OR OR OR [seal barks] other drugs, to a level that renders the driver incapable of operating a motor vehicle safely.”
Where is the evidence that this driver was “drunk”? Or is this observation just a general view of social behaviors?
