Santa Barbara County firefighters stopped the forward progress of a brush fire near the Highway 101 and SR-154 interchange on Thursday afternoon.
At 3:08 p.m., crews responded to the Buellton area for a reported one to two acre grass fire. It was reportedly wind-driven and moving at a moderate rate of speed.
Air resources were called including Air Support Unit helicopter 965.
It took about thirty minutes for crews to stop the fire’s forward progress and ensure containment.
The responding air tankers were released back into service as crews remained on the scene for mop-up.
“Please use caution when driving through the area,” said Fire Captain Scott Safechuck.
The cause is under investigation.
Ever grateful to our many firefighters who quickly respond to these all too frequent fires. …. and keep them from turning into much more serious wildfires.
