Santa Barbara County firefighters contained a 1/4 acre brush fire in Orcutt on Tuesday evening.

At 7:24 p.m., crews responded to the intersection of Hummel Drive and Foster Road and discovered a grass fire in an empty lot growing at a slow rate of spread.

Crews quickly stopped the forward progress at 7:38 p.m. and remained on the scene to clean up through the evening.

There were no injuries or structures damaged.

The cause is under investigation.
