This Maintenance and Repair Project is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to support a clean, safe, and vibrant Downtown business district. The Project will repair the brick sidewalks uplifted by tree roots between State Street and Anacapa Street on East Carrillo Street. The Project will create a much smoother walking surface, improving pedestrian safety.
Construction by the City’s contractor will begin on the north side of Carrillo Street on Wednesday, October 31, and will be completed prior to the holiday season. Construction work will continue on the south side shortly after the start of the new year.
The contractor will be required to maintain access at all times to all businesses in the work area.
Gotta keep the employees busy. If the city was smart, they’d pour concrete so they would not have to continually pay out legal settlements and re-do the sidewalks every 10 years… But that would require actual thinking and smart planning. Something we all know the city lacks. Remember folks, according to Mayor Murillo, its the city’s job to employ as many people as possible for as long as possible.
So right, SBobserver, because concrete never cracks…..brilliant! You should work for the City as a professional know-it-all-supervisor.
