One person has died in a structure fire that broke out in Santa Maria Wednesday afternoon.
At 3:33 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the 3500 block of Rosales Court in the Tanglewood neighborhood.
Crews discovered a single story, single-family home emitting black smoke and flames. They engaged in a firefight while conducting a primary search and ventilation operation.
A second alarm was initiation and the fire was successfully knocked down at 4:24 p.m.
During the interior search operation, crews discovered one deceased individual. The identity of this person has yet to be released.
Crews will remain on the scene for mop-up and overhaul operations. The cause is under investigation.
Appears to be a classic hoarders residence… Unfortunately, a gnarly mental disorder that is near impossible to right… RIP
Appears to be a classic sociopathic response.
You decided they were a hoarder because they had boxes of items in their garage? Maybe they were getting ready to move out, or in or I don’t know, actually STORING items in their garage?
CW is on to something in their initial scene size-up, a fire would not erupt like this unless their was heavy fuel load inside (things to burn) unfortunately and that they had to call in a second alarm (more resources) would also hint towards there being a difficult search, whether it be house layout, low visibility or obstacles to navigate. Another hint is the vehicles in the driveway, two appear inoperable and have been sitting for some time. Hopefully there were working smoke detectors and the investigation determines cause. May this individual RIP and their family receive many thoughts & prayers. RIP
