County to open additional election offices in Santa Maria and Lompoc in February
All registered voters in the State of California will receive a ballot in the mail at the beginning of February for the March 5 Presidential Primary. If a voter does not receive their ballot by mid-February, they should contact the Santa Barbara County Registrar of Voters office at 800-722-8683.
Voters can verify the accuracy of their voter registration, including residential and mailing addresses, at https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/registration-status. To make address and other updates to their registration, or for eligible citizens to register to vote, go to www.registertovote.ca.gov.
Ballots may be returned by mail (postmarked by Election Day, March 5), returned in person to one of our three election offices (locations listed below), to any polling place on Election Day or to an official ballot drop box.
County Elections has 30 secure ballot drop boxes in various locations throughout the County. Drop boxes will be available 24 hours a day beginning February 5 until 8 p.m. on Election Day, March 5. A list of drop box locations in Santa Barbara County is included with the ballot and posted on the website at www.SBCVote.com.
- Ballots may also be returned to the County Elections offices in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Lompoc or to a polling place on Election Day before 8 p.m.
- Voters may mail their ballot with no postage required, postmarked by Election Day, March 5, in the preprinted return envelope provided with the ballot. The Postal Service advises voters to mail their ballot early to allow time for it to arrive at the Elections Office.
Voters must sign the ballot envelope. The signature on every returned voted ballot envelope will be compared to the signature on the voter’s registration card before it is counted. If a voter thinks that their signature has changed over time, they should contact the Santa Barbara Registrar of Voters at 800-722-8683 or re-register online at www.registertovote.ca.gov. The DMV signature may be utilized with online voter registration.

Do you always harvest your talking points from the con social media book of falsehoods?
I remember when you HAD to go to a polling place, and people took it seriously on making their way there. Others would help, whatever it took. And to get an absentee ballot you had to specifically request one and have a good reason why. Now they just mail them out like junk mail to God knows where…AND you can get a ballot at the polling place. This just screams bad intentions by the same people that don’t want voter ID to be a requirement. Gotta show your ID for most everything in this country, except what is becoming the most IMPORTANT time to prove who you are.
They check the signatures, so unless a crook has a database of legitimate signatures, and figures out how to apply them to ballot envelopes, the mailed-in ballots are pretty safe.
I used to like going to the polls—I enjoyed the feeling of participation. But it wasn’t always convenient, and I believe they had trouble getting enough poll workers.
Ahc- Yes, they are SUPPOSED to check those. I’m sure they try, but whatever method they use, it doesn’t work. I have dropped my ballot to the same box for the last several years. Each time I scribbled a wildly different signature. Every time I just got a confirmation of my vote. Yay for getting it, but it could have been anyone. I’m not a person who thinks any voter fraud/fucked up system has changed any election, but can’t we do better? Can anyone here provide a reason there shouldn’t be better verifying who is voting? Maybe it’s not gonna mater, but why the resistance to maying SURE it’s legit?
I’m pretty sure there were a dozen of court cases in the past few years attempting to prove what you say is true but…. turns out. No proof, no evidence, no justification. So just more lies by some politicians to get you all riled up and look at that, it worked.
SBS- I’m just relaying what my experience was. I challenge you to try it! You can always confirm your vote, so it won’t be wasted. I’m gonna sign your handle this time and I bet you dinner that my vote is counted with zero issues.
https://www.brookings.edu/articles/widespread-election-fraud-claims-by-republicans-dont-match-the-evidence/
Facts are important OGSB.
SBS- I’m down if there’s a way to prove it. Can they pull up the last 3-5 election ballots I have signed? I doubt it. On purpose. But hey, our Government and the majority of the county who work for them are amazing…
Oh, gee, what a fine citizen you are. Enjoy dealing with the fraud charges.
But at least it’ll mean one less vote for the morons on the ballot.
Anoy- Exactly, she’s a Liberal!
In California only “active registered voters” receive mail-in ballots. Voter pamphlets and sample ballots, as well as other material related to voter roll maintenance may reach other people.
kirk- What demonstrates an “active voter”? My Wife has voted maybe twice in 30 years and always in person. She has received (as has everyone in our home) a mail-in ballot the last few years.
Are you saying your wife is committing voter fraud?
Anoy- Because she only voted 2 times, but still got ballots? No, but I get how you would think that based on you’re own values.
What does “you’re own” mean? You are own what?
Anoy- Wow! Amazing catch! Yes, spell check put an apostrophe in there. Well done.
Now if you added a fact check, and verified spell check, you could, maybe, contribute something useful.
Spread that FUD!
Our elections are more secure now than they have ever been.
Reminds me of what Elon recently pointed out. The open boarder policy is an attempt to sway the voting body towards the left.
Should be criminal and viewed as treason, with all the associated penalties for anyone involved.
What’s an open boarder? Some kind of surfer?
And if you by chance meant border, I suggest you go try to cross it if you think it’s open.
Can you please provide the legislative information for this “policy?” Also, can you explain the existence of the US Border Patrol?
More lies. Try looking at some facts and thinking for yourself. Sad.
What’s interesting is that GOP and Dem senators joined with Biden to create a comprehensive border policy that is the most strict than it’s ever been but Trump told the House GOP to vote it down because he needs a platform to run on and Biden solving the problem would be bad for his election because then commenters like you would have nothing but DEI and “woke” policies to complain about even though the majority of Americans approve of those policies.
Anon – I never said anything about DEI. Although bringing that into this discussion about CITIZENS voting sure shows why it’s a bad movement
Wait, I’m confused…. I thought the GOP was the one panicking about the border?
Senate Republicans block bipartisan border security deal
https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/4453955-senate-republicans-block-bipartisan-border-security-deal/
Biden’s named “Border Deal” consists of a total taxpayer funded bill costing $118 BILLION- of that $60 more BILLION to Ukraine- $14.1 BILLION to Israel- and lastly $20 BILLION to implement new border strategies… So tell me, WHY is it called the BORDER DEAL…? It should be “Lets Add Another $60 Billion, on top of the $205 BILLION to Ukraine Deal…”
LOL what? So now it’s too much money being spent on our “security?”
Sac – No panic, but also not going to compromise with pancake Biden who until election year decided to leave the border open and now that his student aid, immigration policy and other failings are apparent wants to switch things up.
Sounds like the only person “panicking” is sitting in the Oval Office right now trying to remember which button launches the nukes and which button orders his favorite ice cream flavor
So…. nothing to do with the fact that Trump told Republicans to vote against it, likely because he didn’t want Biden to get credit for it?
Maybe you ought to read some of the comments by the few Repubs that had the balls to support a bipartisan deal to help secure the border you people are always screaming about.
And again, the border is not “open.” Go tell a US Border Patrol agent he doesn’t exist. Let us know how that works for you.
STEVE O – well that’s a big ol heap of lies. Maybe get a new information source?
People still take elections seriously. So seriously in fact that we’re prosecuting those GOP voters who tried to cast fake ballots for Trump, and even those were pretty minimal because our elections are so secure.
Like I have said before, just go vote. If you win, you win, and if you lose you lose. Not “you won”, of course, but you might think that. I get it. Then go forward. I’m not a trump or Biden supporter in case you’re wondering. They both suck.
Brilliant, as always lol
Thank you. I think I summed it up well.
Bwahaha summed up what? Go vote, someone wins and someone loses? Yeah and 2 plus 2 equals 4. 👏👏👏
It’s an accomplishment for him, for sure.
No, you missed the point. Think, for a second or two. Quit arguing and vote. And then, deal with whatever happens. Easy.
Nah, the simple and tepid point was painfully clear. That’s what’s so funny.
Try to remember your own advice, champ.
Quit arguing and vote. And then, deal with whatever happens. Easy.
Which means no more crying about Newsom, Biden or all the others who beat your guys/gals. Right? Right. I’ll hold you to that.
Basic, I mean. Not Alex. I did a Doc move and replied to the wrong one.
We may be nuts, but at least we don’t fill our lives and beings with hate, fear and misery when others get a fair chance at life. It must just burn to see historically oppressed people finally get a bone. Ouch!
