In a year that has been anything but normal the Avocado Festival has come through for six charities in the Carpinteria area as if to say “it’s going to be fine”.
The Avocado Festival was cancelled as was every other signpost of the season because mingling with people has proven unwise in the age of Covid. Showing what’s right is right, the Avocado Festival board of directors continued the tradition of giving back to the community with six grants from funds collected in 2020.
Just when we needed someone to assure us that there is a light at the end of the Covid tunnel, the Avocado Festival Board gave funds to the Future Farmers of America, the Howard School, Hope Net of Carpinteria and several others much-needed funds to run their programs.
The 34th annual festival wasn’t able to give us the Upbeat and large quantities of guacamole but the idea that a non profit festival could still fund worthy causes in Carpinteria in a time such as this should be loudly applauded.
