Reported by Roger the Scanner Guy
Report of a suspicious male in the Golds Gym parking lot on Upper State Street. He was trying to coax a child to go with him to McDonalds then was last seen going east toward La Cumbre Plaza. Suspect is a Hispanic male adult (HMA).
Reporting party an employee of the gym no longer has visual on the subjects.
SBPD on scene.
SBPD Checking Northbound La Cumbre.
Reporting party was not an employee but someone who works out at the gym she left?
Father/Daughter nothing suspicious were at Dental office earlier Family.
Roger over and out.
Oh wow. This is really sad. I wonder how many non-white people are reported as “suspicious” for simply being with their children.
See something – say something. Who should be the final one sorting this out?
Yup too often “suspicious” just means the reporting party doesn’t like the look of the person, whether it’s the colour of their skin, tattoos or the clothes they wear. Their suspicions are suspicious and ought to be investigated. At least here a POC is not going to be shot just because a WFA let her prejudices get the better of her.
Blame me and kill me then I won’t have to read these comments anymore I’m tired..oh down vote me baby slap me again oh that feels sooooo good!
Until you get your facts in order, how often do people fail to report anything when it really could have mattered? On which side should one err? On which side should we forgive.
dont we live in a society where its “innocent UNTIL proven guilty”.
the ONLY reason anyone suspected a kidnapping is BECAUSE OF THE BS posted on social media all the time, the long list of stories about abductions and kidnappings that NO ONE IS PROVING are actually happening. Some are, but some are not. like this one, I would be PISSED if I was the dad! Think about your actions and what you would do if someone assumed you were a kidnapper. Who cares what side you should ERRRRRR on, its called having actual evidence and truth to your statements. let me ask this, when was the last kidnapping in santa barbara? an actual kidnapping, not a parent keeping the child for a few extra hours and the other parent calls it in as a kidnapping to cause drama? seriously, none. I have not heard of one! so lets use statistics for a bit, out of 0 kidnappings over this past year, whats the likely hood this is a real kidnapping? ohhhhh 0.
Well, it was a mistake but could have been otherwise. There was some reason for the reporting party to believe it was suspicious. I think I would be glad someone was looking out for my daughter. Too many people “don’t want to get involved”.
Maybe it looked suspicious to the reporting party good for her for calling it could have easily been the other way there are many registered sex offenders in this town most are child molesters….I would rather be a criminal than a cop.
If it did go the other way none of you would be complaining either
racial profiling
And??? Young girls are often snatched and sexually abused. Sadly, it doesn’t seem to get better. Why take a chance?
Bull Crap
And over 2000 more between March 2018 and mid July 2018. At the border.
Probably 25+ years ago, a friend told me her husband was trying in vain to get his screaming, twin toddler daughters to their van in the downtown library structure. A woman stopped him and accused him of trying to take the girls. It wasn’t until he showed her the twin potty chairs in the van that she believed that he was their father. My own daughter was a difficult toddler, and I remember wondering what people were thinking as I was trying (and failing) to get my screaming mass of child to sit in her car seat. How about this: instead of calling the police, asking if someone needs help?
Nearly 1,200 kidnappings happened in Mexico in 2017, between January and March 2018 almost 400. Even though most “”milk carton kids” are custody disputes there is no reason to not be vigilant.
