…all those apartments on Broadmoor and Richland USED to be rented out to paying renters of Santa Barbara…. The SB Housing Authority took them all over and now they are subsidized half-way houses for parolees from all over the State, recovering drug and alcohol abusers and housing for homeless… To say that Northside neighborhood demographic has changed is an understatement.
CoastWatch. Thank you for this. I kept wondering why I’d drive past on State St. and, in that particular area, I kept seeing scraggly beings stumbling around, some trying to cross in the middle of the street when there’s heavy traffic, a few sleeping on the bus benches. This explains a lot to me.
