Santa Barbara Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place at the Macy’s department store in the La Cumbre Plaza on Monday.
Three teenagers allegedly arrived at the store around 1:00 p.m. and began shoplifting.
When security approached the teens, one of them pulled out a large hunting knife before they reportedly fled on skateboards, according to John Palminteri.
The teens were last seen skating eastbound on State Street and have yet to be arrested.
Santa Barbara Police are investigating the incident.
Does Macy’s not have video cameras? Surely, there’s some photo evidence that can be shared in the community to locate these punks.
SBPD – What was the reason for the multi car response last night that took 4 cops and an ambulance going high speed along Las Positas around the hour of 10:00 PM?
I thought this title was regarding that since they headed up state but this was a totally different time of day.
Loser unsupervised kids read about all the “free” robberies throughout the state since many locales in our state started not prosecuting for those crimes and they decide to be copycats. Sadly, until our government decides to once again uphold the laws, this type of lawlessness will probably continue and get worse.
Resident – I wonder what the parents are like 🤔
They need to start locking people up again, get rid of the minimum $950 for a felony BS, and have way better efforts to pursue criminals. The whole “we don’t pursue them if it isn’t safe” leads to a generally unsafe situation for everyone else.
STONER – There’s no minimum dollar value relative to robbery and I believe all robberies are classified as a felony. Knife in their hand or not during the robbery, all will be arrested for armed robbery. Not sure what you’re referring to relative to “pursuits.” Other than car pursuits, I’ve not heard “we don’t pursue them if it isn’t safe.”
RESIDENT – armed robbery is not “free.” Once caught, these kids, at least the knife wielder, will be prosecuted. CA has not relaxed armed robbery laws.
Let’s hope so.
