Lompoc Police Release Suspect’s Identity in Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting

The suspect, who was fatally wounded at Circle K in Lompoc on December 29, 2023, has been identified as 20-year-old Connor Amador, a resident of Lompoc.

An investigation of the Officer Involved Shooting is active and ongoing and is being conducted by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

A GoFundMe page set up by the Amador family to cover his memorial service and funeral and burial costs describes him as “a dedicated brother, uncle, son, and a great friend. He had an easy-going nature and was a self-proclaimed ‘sweetheart.’”

The Lompoc Police Department stated the officer involved in the fatal shooting was Officer Alexander Justice. He is a 6-year member of the Lompoc Police Department with nine years overall in Law Enforcement who remains on administrative leave pending the investigation process.

Summary :
On December 28th, at 11:30 pm, Lompoc Police Officers responded to a reported armed robbery at Circle K located at 1421 E Ocean Ave. An armed male suspect had entered the store and robbed the clerk of both money and alcohol before fleeing the area. LPD Officers responded and searched for the suspect, but he was not located.

On December 29th, at approximately 1:18 am, LPD Officers were once again dispatched to Circle K for an armed male near the gas pumps. The armed male had attempted to carjack a victim in the parking lot. The victim managed to flee from the area on foot.

After the unsuccessful carjacking, the armed male entered Circle K and attempted to rob them again. He then exited the store and was confronted by LPD Officers. An Officer involved shooting occurred. LPD Officers provided medical aid until Fire and Medics arrived, however he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At the request of Lompoc Police Chief Kevin Martin, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office responded to conduct an Officer Involved Shooting Investigation.

The identification of the suspect will not be released, pending notification to his next of kin.
