On Monday, an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train collided with a disabled car in Orcutt.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Highway 1 and Broad Road, approximately six miles south of Santa Maria, at 4:39 p.m.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, a woman was driving the vehicle when it came to a stop on the train tracks just as an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner was approaching. Fortunately, the woman managed to exit the vehicle safely before the collision.

The collision caused the train to push the disabled car approximately 600 feet before coming to a stop. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the 95 passengers on the train.

As a result of the accident, Amtrak services experienced delays, and authorities are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the car ending up on the tracks.

The incident is under investigation.
