American Medical Response (AMR) Santa Barbara officially revealed its new electric ambulance at Old Spanish Days Fiesta on Saturday.

AMR Santa Barbara County now has one of only five state-of-the-art electric ambulances in the country manufactured by REV Ambulance Group. In addition to providing a sustainable, environmentally friendly solution for medical transportation, the ambulance features a higher roof and added length in the patient compartment for increased patient and crew comfort.

The new ambulance was on display at the AMR booth during the Fiesta celebration as employees were providing CPR trainings.

AMR provides emergency services in 40 states, transporting more than 4.8 million patients nationwide.

    • It only lessens our environmental impact if the electricity to charge it’s batteries is sourced from “green” generation facilities in amounts adequate enough to offset the added carbon emissions generated by mining, processing, and fabricating the EV battery over a standard ICE vehicle. Then there is the whole battery disposal process – while it possible to recycle them it currently isn’t feasible and thus isn’t be done at scale, then there is the carbon footprint and hazardous by-products produced when it is recycled…….. and it isn’t (currently) clear that EV’s do lessen our environmental impact. We’re making progress though.

    • Ah, so the FUD isn’t what I said it’s what I didn’t say, okay….. battery vs ICE engine the large battery + electric motor carry a much larger carbon footprint / environmental impact than the engine block, rest of the vehicle is the same. I addressed the petroleum component when I pointed out it depends where the electricity to charge the EV comes from : coal plants = worse than gasoline wind/solar = better than gasoline.

    • @9:54, you must not have read both comments than, because the sourcing, refining, and delivering of carbon fuel is similar whether it is gas in a gas tank or gas in a power plant used to generate electricity. for an EV. Weird how you’d intentionally ignore parts of my comment then go on to say I’m the ignorant one.
