Three passengers were uninjured following an airplane crash in Santa Ynez on Sunday evening.
At 6:20 p.m., the Santa Barbara County Fire Department received reports of an aircraft down in a field south of the Chumash Casino and west of the Santa Ynez Airport. County firefighters and a ground ambulance responded to find a small private passenger aircraft, said Captain Daniel Bertucelli.
There were three occupants and one dog on board. All were able to self-extricate safely from the plane and were uninjured.
The plane was reportedly having mechanical issues but it’s unknown where the plane was traveling from.
The Sheriff’s Office is on the scene and the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Bureau were notified to conduct an investigation.

Had to be a low speed landing in a level field, right? Maybe right after takeoff?
Seeing that tall Chumash tower sort of in line with that runway has always looked sketchy to me.
