I don’t care about the Reagan Ranch but I’m devastated about the damage to Arroyo Hondo and Baron Ranch.
Reagan Ranch is magical – history and headlines were made here and the setting reflects he measure of the man and his world. Simple, direct and authentic to his core beliefs. Try to visit it if you can – particularly if you have a memory of the Reagan presidency – the Presidential Library in Simi Valley is knock out too – extremely well done and a reminder he had a lot to proud of, as he walked those 8 years across the world stage. His special touch is missed.
And yes, all of this is said knowing it will quickly be followed with strings of negative comments -this is predictable – no President is perfect; but he had a lot of good in him and glad he rose to the occasion when his brand of strong leadership and affable nature was called to act.
Well, so much for all that….. fact remains though…. Never tried to stop it for three hours after our government was attacked. Nothing.
BYZ….magical was the way the institutionalized were out on the street and magically still are….signed ‘not a Commie’.
Probably because their backgrounds weren’t in politics, the common denominator among our current batch of lying, two faced, divisive politicians on both sides of the isle.
Reagan was a great actor and networker. Beyond that, he had a shallow understanding of the issues as shown by his clumsy domestic and foreign policies. His standing in history says more about the public’s level of civic engagement and knowledge than Reagan’s abilities. Telling Gorbachev to tear down a border wall is an easier explanation than tracing the decades of Soviet mistakes that actually led to the fall of the USSR. That being said, he was a visionary leader compared to 45. At least he knew border walls were ridiculous.
Magical? LOL. Yes, Saint Reagan, the Saint of corruption, lies, death and of course, greed. And let’s not forget his his most famous accomplishment, lying to Congress and the American people about an illegal arms deal between Iran and the Contras… Iran! He sold weapons to Iran to funnel money to a revolution!!!! Your post proves once again that propaganda works really well on the less capable…
Fewtile, ACLU forced the closure of state care institutions by court order. Quickly after this over-reaching court decision, voters passed the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) to provide support for those previously institutionalized now left on.their own for whom the promised pharmacological maintenance was clearly not working. Billions of tax dollars have been raised by the MHSA since its passage years ago. Yet all we see are new generations of mentally impaired individuals still on the streets who would be far better served in institutionalized care, under objective and court protected placement criteria – the Can Nots. Where has all that MHSA money gone and why have successive state legislators since its passage not been held accountable for what voters clearly supported when faced with the court ordered closure of state care institutions. What have we learned since that court order that would make state care institutions a far better option today? We fully know and see what the lack of state care institutions looks like today, so decent comparisons can now be made between these alternatives: (1) doing nothing, (2) attempting to treat as out-patients, and (3) bringing back the state care setting.
And Reagan was a mental genius compared to Biden.
Since you claim to prefer facts and citations; Can you cite a single example of any proof that that your God exists?
Lord Tytler covered this already – “A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.”
Ray-gun was a Democ=rat b-4 he was a Republi=cant
Trump tried hard to overthrow the government of Venezuela.
You are very confused. You have faith in a fable, but ignore science and facts and reason. I dont argue with fools. That is what is affectionately called a fool’s errand…
Sneaky one with Ford SBO, but there was the Carnation Revolution then. How about an elected President?
“ If conservatives become convinced that they can not win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. The will reject democracy.” – David Frum
SacJon: No matter how anyone “felt” about Reagan, he has gone down as one of our top presidents. The last few, including the one we have now, could have learned a thing or two from President Reagan. Hate him if you must, but it certainly does not change the facts (LOL!). Too many people these days are driven by emotions and what the see/hear on the internet/tv. Live your own lives as you see fit for yourself, and don’t hate others for trying to live theirs as they see fit. Then we can all get along like peas in a pod.
BYZ…..MHSA was twenty years down the road from Ray-gun….you can’t ketchup with government malfeasance, especially allowing for that long of a gap. So let law enforcement deal with them (‘catch and release’… like at the border)
Trickle Down Economics. I think they call them “golden showers” these days.
I don’t really think Trump is a conservative, or really any particular ideology other than a corrupt, narcissistic, sociopathic, opportunistic scum bag witha very fragile ego. Trump seems to somehow encapsulate so many of the most disgusting human traits. But Frum’s observation about conservatives abandoning democracy does holds true over much of the Republican party and its behavior.
Babycakes – can you please sight a source for that? A quick google search shows he is not even in the top 10.
LOL at the downvote. I thought we were dealing with facts not feelings?
