The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department (PHD) is reporting 429 new COVID-19 cases and 8 deaths on Wednesday.
Six individuals were over 70 and two were 30-49 years of age. Five of the Individuals had underlying medical conditions and three of the deaths were associated with an outbreak at a congregate facility. The regions of residence include five from the City of Santa Maria, and one each from the City of Goleta, North County Unincorporated and the City of Santa Barbara.
There are now 2,007 active cases within the county including 167 hospitalizations with 55 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU).
The Southern California Region and Santa Barbara County ICU availability are both at 0%.
Cottage Health is reporting 20% capacity available for adult critical care with 85 patients in isolation with COVID-19 symptoms, 81 of those are confirmed to be COVID-19 positive.
On Wednesday Ventura County reported 1,520 new cases and 8 additional deaths ranging in age from 47 to 102. They have 420 hospitalizations including 81 in the ICU.
San Luis Obispo County reported 290 new cases on Wednesday with 2,835 active cases that include 39 hospitalizations with 14 in the ICU.

Exactly. There are genetic factors which can predispose one to a very nasty case of COVID, and nobody can yet say what all of them are, let alone be aware if they have them.

The good news is the ICU capacity has been increasing for SB County, and the “actual” staffed adult ICU bed availability is now at 11%. While the “adjusted” ICU capacity is effectively 0%, if you end up needing an ICU bed tonight, there are 9 available somewhere within our county. The panic is certainly justified as these beds will soon be filled, so don’t be stupid and follow the health orders/advice.

No, that is idiotic and has no merit in science. You will not get COVID from to-go orders. My god, we have been dealing with this since March and people still don’t seem to understand how it spreads. INDOOR GATHERINGS. No wonder we are still in this mess.

An underlying condition as a factor doesn’t even have to be something that is considered an illness.
Over time we may find out that people with normally occurring variants are present are more susceptible. This would be the case if people with blood types A,B AB or RH+ or RH- are found to be at higher.

Has anyone considered the possibility that some transmission is occurring from the to-go orders from our restaurants?
