Santa Barbara County Public Health Department (PHD) officials announced approximately 42% of eligible county residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
During a press conference Friday afternoon, officials stated 27% of the population aged 16 and older are fully vaccinated with 42% receiving at least one dose of a two-dose regime.
PHD Director Dr. Van Do-Reynoso gave “huge kudos” to residents for decreasing the COVID-19 case rate by 41% over the past two weeks to get into the orange tier.
Public Health Officer Dr. Henning Ansorg addressed the numerous conspiracy theories and false statements about the vaccine circling on social media. He clarified the vaccines do not affect fertility and a recent study confirmed the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are safe for pregnant women. In terms of vaccine development, he confirmed the underlying biotechnology of an mRNA vaccine has been in development for at least a decade.
In Santa Barbara County it appears to be the mid-county area that has lower vaccination rates than north or south county, said Dr. Ansorg. While admitting that vaccine hesitancy is nuanced and “mindboggling,” he said conservative communities appear to be less willing to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Rough estimates show approximately 60% of people want the COVID-19 vaccines, 20% of people are categorically against all vaccines in general, and 20% of people are undecided due to various reasons, said Dr. Ansorg.
No corners were cut in the completion of phases to get FDA authorization and the best protection we have is to get immunized as soon as possible, Dr. Ansorg said.

Additionally, there will one community clinic in Santa Barbara this coming Tuesday and another on Wednesday in Santa Maria where appointments are not needed. We are back to normal. We need to learn to stop living in the past. It’s not 2019 anymore. We are becoming more educated and people have learned that wearing masks and staying more physically distanced from friends and relatives helps keep everyone safer and shows respect for others. These important developments are a great step forward in the evolution of our society and will continue to be enforced in the years to come.

I agree Chip. Only real way though to get other people’s homes/land is to physically throw them and their families out of those unjustly acquired homes, tax them so they have to sell, or just have a government takeover of all private property. This was actually done with success in the good old days of Stalinist Russia I believe.
Are you just being facetious, or do you really believe this? If “hard core ” communism, which is of course what you have described, worked so well and “saves everyone,” then how come every last time it has been tried in history, it has failed?! I could provide examples from history ad nauseum, but if interested, you can just study some history yourself.
They are (wild-eyed) predictions, not recommendations, and you only quoted the first part: “You’ll own nothing; Whatever you want, you’ll rent, and it will be delivered by drone”. Of course this prediction for 2030 is not true, nor is it true that the WEF has been working on this for 50 years, nor is it true that Klaus Schwab and the Gates Foundation are “driving this bus”. And yes, I did read 1984, and it bears no resemblance to the predictions in that video.
There is a little more to the carbon cycle Hado. The tree absorbs carbon from the CO2 in the air and makes leaves and wood. This process releases oxygen. When the leaves drop in the fall and rot, and when the tree dies and rots, the wood and the leaves decompose. Oxygen is absorbed from the air and CO2 is released into the air. When the rate of tree growth is equal to the rate of tree decay, trees are carbon neutral. The carbon simply changes forms.
Mountainman, you bring up an excellent point. In addition to the pandemic and climate justice, social justice is another issue that must be addressed. Wealth distribution in our country is grossly unfair and unequal. Wealthy families, particularly in communities like Santa Barbara, possess an undue share of wealth and land. In order to correct this imbalance, which is the product of historical injustice, a program of reform will be required to achieve a more equitable distribution of wealth and property. Other countries, like Zimbabwe, have taken the bold steps required to correct the injustices of the past and implemented land reform programs to achieve a greater measure of equality. We need to follow their example and do the same here in california. Wealth inequality is a public health problem too, and decisive measures must be taken to address it.
As you can see, people who are ignorant about COVID are ignorant about science in general.
Where will the trees get their source of Co2 to produce oxygen?
Don’t forget the ‘ownership’ of private property is totally unsustainable. We need to look toward the future. There should be a program… perhaps the Great Debt Reset, where the the state buys back all debt and everyone agrees to abandon the idea of private property, or that we own anything at all. There will be a Universal Basic Income. It will be a good day. The earth will be saved.
