3.3 Magnitude Earthquake off Isla Vista Coast

A 3.3 magnitude earthquake struck off the Isla Vista coast on Tuesday morning.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports the quake took place at 8:15 a.m. approximately 14km west of Isla Vista in the Pacific Ocean.

Edhat readers sent it reports of feeling a sharp jolt from Gaviota to Santa Barbara.

The USGS reports a depth of 1.6 km with reports of activity in the Goleta and Santa Barbara areas but nothing extending out farther into the county.
