A 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck northern San Luis Obispo County late Tuesday evening.
At 10:48 p.m. the quake hit near Cholame, a rural area near State Routes 41 and 46.
Edhat readers in the Santa Maria and Santa Ynez Valley reported feeling a slight jolt around this time.
I suppose this is considered news because of the Ridgecrest quake. Most earthquake followers know that quakes are frequent in the area around Coalinga and Cholame ( on the San Andreas Fault). Don’t be concerned. No surprises or newsworthiness here.
