Our spooky little John Wiley & Co. brief deco tour was short but loads of fun, and we look forward to seeing what snaps get sent to Ed’s 2022 Halloween Photo Gallery tonight! Here’s what we snapped in just a few minutes on the 26th. First up, on San Clemente near Shoreline Park a delightful and least scary scene to bring smiles for all ages.
Then turning back toward the park on San Nicholas a haunted cemetery front lawn with flashing lights that’s blurry due to my using a movie to capture the instant several spooks were lit at once.
Farther along another movie of a playful light show with skeleton doffing a top hat in front of a grinning pumpkin ghoul.
Back on Shoreline I walked to snap this scary spider scene for arachnophobes.
Then I had to take a moment going back to join those who stayed in the car, to snap the extensive decorations in that no parking zone at the park. Could the skeleton on the signpost be someone whose car was towed long ago?
There’s so much going on there, I paused again to snap details on the left of the scene.
On this severely time-limited tour we also slowed to snap the giant eyeballs on San Roque near Foothill, watching the watchers as we drove by.

There is no lady in white along the bluffs. This spot is where i work with my dogs in training. So yeah, i’m there every frickin night rain or shine for the past 6years. Not I, nor my well trained dogs have ever detected anything aside of a bunny or skunk or other local critter.
Lets talk about Summerland. You want spooky? Go to Summerland. A town created by mystics in the early 1900s yes…that’s right. How many of you knew this? Few? I get it. It’s not shared a lot around here.
Francheschi house, Upham Hotel (one of CA”s oldest hotels), the Arlington, The Granada theater backstage area, Mission, the old Virginian hotel location downtown. Also heard that Ritz-Carlton Bacara: supposedly built on burial grounds? The ‘island’ in Goleta is supposed to have several chumash spirits too.
Summerland is the gold mine for haunts in SB.

4:36 – what’s your beef with folks who aren’t too soulless to believe there might be something out there beyond what we see/understand? I bet you don’t believe in extra terrestrial life, either?
Sac, fully agree with all of that! Mathmatically its totally improbable that we are the only intelligent life…or any life. There are haunts around for sure. I just don’t buy the city college lady in white thing. I think spending 6 years along those bluffs i’d see something, my dogs would detect something….anything. Nope. Now you go to the mission…that place is creepy.
