SBMM) presents The Lure of Lighthouses & Dancing Waves, an exhibit featuring more than 35 photographs of lighthouses and waves by the renowned and Emmy Award-winning surfing photographer and videographer Dan Merkel. The lighthouse photographs include images of lighthouses from near and far—from Cape Elizabeth and Cape Hatteras on the East Coast and Point Loma and Point Pinos on the West to Portugal and Australia. The images are accompanied by Dan’s breath-taking photos capturing waves throughout the world. Beginning on Thursday, January 26, the exhibit will be on view in SBMM’s Gallery and Munger Theater through August 27, 2023.

The Community Environmental Council's Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival is returning to Alameda Park on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30.
The KDA Sketch Session will take place at the historical El Presidio de Santa Bárbara on Sunday, April 23rd from 1-3pm. This is a free event. Drawing materials are provided and local architects and artists will be on hand to offer guidance.
Opera Santa Barbara presents Die Walküre (The Valkyrie) on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 2:30 PM. Set in Northern Europe in mythical times. Star-crossed lovers Siegmund and Sieglinde unknowingly provoke the wrath of the gods of Valhalla, who decree the death of Siegmund. Brünnhilde, the titular Valkyrie, defies the will of her father Wotan, leader of the gods, to rescue Sieglinda and the couple’s unborn child, in Wagner’s romantic masterpiece that features the famous “Ride of the Valkyries.” In German with English surtitles.

Evidence shows volunteering helps people manage stress, feel connected, and increases self-confidence. Completing community service hours is more than checking a box off the to-do list… it’s learning about the joy of volunteering, learning new skills, and an opportunity to grow and discover new passions.
You will hear from all of the organizations during our virtual webinar and it will be followed by a Q&A where you can post your questions in the chat. Find out which areas of interest (animals, arts & culture, homelessness, environment & science, education, camps, elderly) are meaningful to you.

Named Musical America’s 2018 “Instrumentalist of the Year,” Hadelich is consistently cited worldwide for his phenomenal technique, soulful approach, and insightful interpretations.
