Mary Hall, to Present, “Using DNA to Chip Away at Brick Wall Mysteries” at Genealogical Society Meeting

The Santa Barbara Jazz Society is pleased to present jazz vocalist Janis Mann and her trio on Sunday, November 19 from 1 to 4pm  at SOhO. 

Free Sunday Lecture at Goleta Valley Library, November 19, 2017, 2pm, 500 N Fairview Ave., Goleta. Prof. David Lopez-Carr from UCSB will discuss UCSB's Center of Expertise on Planetary Health and talk about how to improve the complex situation of global health. 

After witnessing a mob massacre in Chicago, musicians Joe (Jack Lemmon) and Jerry (Tony Curtis) are in grave danger. Posing as "Josephine" and "Daphne," they evade the mob by joining a traveling all-women band headed to Florida, but farcical complications ensue as Jerry/Daphne falls for the band's loopy ukelele player Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe), and Joe/Josephine becomes the object of a millionaire playboy's fixation.

David Mandel (Veep, Seinfeld) will join Carsey-Wolf Center Director Patrice Petro for a post-screening discussion. A reception will follow the event in the Michael Douglas Lobby.

This event is free but a reservation is recommended in order to guarantee a seat.

We will learn the ancient process of dipping candles in the local Santa Barbara way. We will be outdoors and may attract the local bees, as the aroma of beeswax is almost irresistible for a bee, so fair warning is being given!
