Love Knows No Limits: Thomas Fire and Montecito Fundraiser

Love Knows No Limits will feature local artists coming together as a community for the community - Harnessing the power of  beat-inspired  spoken word, delivered with soul rocking rhythm and love. It is an opportunity for people to come together - feel - process - participate - and ultimately arrive at a destination of hope and peace.

UCSB Percussion Ensemble

Under the direction of Jon Nathan, the UCSB Percussion Ensemble will present its annual Winter concert on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. in Karl Geiringer Hall.

Sketching in the Galleries

All skill levels are invited to experience the tradition of sketching from original works of art. Museum Teaching Artists provide general guidance and all materials. Each program is open to 10 participants.

Curator’s Choice Lecture Series: Anthony Hernandez

Anthony Hernandez will be speaking about his impressive work and career. Hernandez, a self-taught artist, was born in Los Angeles, California in 1947. He has been exhibiting his work since 1971, when his photographs were included in an exhibition with Lewis Baltz and Terry Wilde at the Pasadena Art Museum, titled “The Crowded Vacancy.” Hernandez won a Higashikawa Prize in 1996 and a Rome Prize from the American Academy in Rome in 1998. He also received a United States Artist Award in 2010 and three National Endowment for the Arts Awards in 1975, 1978, and 1980.

Spice up your Thursdays with flamenco nights in the Barrel Room every Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00pm. Sip wines and enjoy the ambiance of live flamenco music by Tony Ybarra and empanadas by Buena Onda.

Born in Santa Barbara, California, Anthony L. Ybarra has had the guitar in his hands all his life. His father introduced to him Latin and jazz music at an early age and soon his musical palette broadened to encompass classical and flamenco. He also was a multi-instrumentalist and performed in rock, pop, and Liturgical settings. His diverse musical background proved essential in the success of Ybarra Music. His understanding of these diverse styles has led him craft out his own sound that is melodic, romantic, intimate, rhythmic, and sophisticated.

Shakespeare On Film: Hamlet

Laurence Olivier’s Hamlet is celebrated for dramatizing the turmoil of its central character through means of expression unique to cinema. Adapted and directed by its star, Olivier’s film remains a touchstone both in the cinematic treatment of "Hamlet" and in the history of Shakespeare on film.

Mark Rose (English, UCSB) will join moderator Jim Kearney (English, UCSB) for a post-screening discussion.

Legends of Santa Barbara Wine

Four luminaries from our local wine scene discuss wine history and culture in a casual setting and autograph copies of the new cookbook "Around the Table" that includes a wine section.
