Rebuilding Montecito: Pathways to a Resilient Future

Santa Barbara County residents will have a unique opportunity to ask local officials and state-wide government to engage with the future and build an infrastructure for the 21st century. To this end, the Global Citizen’s Club February 20th meeting will convene a panel including representatives from the Montecito Planning Commission, Santa Barbara County Supervisors, State government and the Clean Coalition to discuss pathways to a more resilient electrical grid and sustainable future.

Support Group for adults grieving the death of a friend due to Thomas Disaster

As our community continues to heal from the effects of the devastating Thomas Fire and Flood, Hospice of Santa Barbara is committed to coming alongside individuals and families who may be grieving during this difficult time.

Hospice of Santa Barbara is offering four new support groups, including a Carpinteria Thomas Disaster support group to assist children, teens, and adults that live beyond Santa Barbara.

Please note: Each group is guided by a professional counselor and is free of charge, however attendees must pre-register in advance.

Photographing the Thomas Fire and Its Tragic consequences – by Mike Eliason

Mike Eliason will describe his experiences photographing the Thomas Fire and the Montecito mudslide. As Public Information Officer of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, Mike had unique access to California’s largest wildfire, it’s devastating impact, and the subsequent mudslide in Montecito. He will illustrate his talk with numerous images of both the fire and mudslide.
