Be inspired by Utagawa Kuniyoshi’s woodblock print, Kabuki Actor Ichikawa Danjūrō VIII as Jiraiya (center) with a Monster Toad (1852), as you create a dynamic composition in triptych form. SBMA Teaching Artist Tina Villadolid explores why drawing from the masters is a helpful exercise, where to begin on the blank page, and how lines and angles convey action and movement.
Supplies
blank paper cut into 3 uniform rectangles (6" x 4" and 4" x 3" )
Prismacolor ebony pencil suggested, but any soft graphite pencil will work
pencil sharpener and eraser
