He looked up to the pre-eminent English painter, John Everett Millais, and collected gritty, working-class images from London magazines. “For me,” he wrote to his brother Theo in 1882, “one of the highest and noblest expressions of art is always that of the English.”

Old Spanish Days is pleased to announce that the 2022 Spirit and Junior Spirit of Fiesta Final Auditions will be performed before a live audience! The pageantry of Old Spanish Days Fiesta will be on full display April 9, 2022 at 2 PM when 19 talented young dancers step on the stage at the historic Lobero Theatre where Fiesta began in 1924. The community is invited to share in the excitement of the day and watch the talented dancers perform. The show will culminate with the announcement of the 2022 Spirit and Junior Spirit of Fiesta.
