Bring the whole family to enjoy 1st Thursday together in SBMA’s Family Resource Center, located across from the Museum Cafe on the Lower Level. Museum Teaching Artists are available to assist families in creating special exhibition-based art projects. Afterwards, enjoy the galleries until 8 pm.

The Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC) recognizes the critical role that caregivers , husbands, and partners play in a woman's success in coping with and recovering from a cancer diagnosis. The BCRC is offering a new interactive, 3 session workshop for men who are supporting women on their journey toward improved health. Dr. Michael Vogel, MA, PhD(c) will facilitate the sessions with guest speakers: Bruce Anderson PhD, experienced caregiver, Chef Leilani Wyatt, cancer survivor and expert in nutritious cooking, Richard Hutton, experienced caregiver, adjunct professor, and film producer. About the exhibition:
Art for 805 will be on view through August 5, 2018 and will showcase miniature paintings,
photographs, prints, and mixed media works, all on display for raffle. The Museum is
grateful to the artists showcasing their talent and contributing to this important cause.

Video games have always had a competitive component, but the early 2000s saw the birth of a more sophisticated industry around video game competition. Beginning in Korea with cable esports broadcasts of "Starcraft: Broodwar", esport has expanded into a global phenomenon built around high-stakes video game play. Supported by the rapid development of broadband networks and streaming media platforms like Twitch.TV, esport continues to change the way players use games.

Dave Stewart, the executive producer of Riot Games’ "North American League of Legends Championship Series", will join moderator Alex Champlin (Film and Media Studies, UCSB) in a discussion about the serious future of video game play.
