BENISE – Spanish Nights

Spanish Nights showcases classic Rock anthems from Led Zeppelin and AC/DC and fuses them with Spanish guitar and dance to bring a fierce intensity to these new interpretations. In addition, Benise adds his signature touch to classics such as “Ave Maria, “Moonlight Sonata,” “Clair de Lune,” and Vivaldi’s “Summer” from The Four Seasons.

For Benise, music has always been a journey. From his humble beginnings as a street performer, to being featured on the #1 rated show in the USA – Dancing With The Stars, and performing around the world. “I wanted to push the boundaries of Nuevo Flamenco/Spanish guitar while combining the elements of dance and theater. This show is a celebration of all the shows we’ve done over the last 20 years,” comments composer, virtuoso guitarist and creative force behind the event, Benise.

A Cross-Disciplinary Conversation with Marshall Brown and Jonathan Lethem

Parallel Stories

Layering, fragments, appropriation, cutting, higher cribbing, collage, and what artist Marshall Brown has called “creative miscegenation,” are all part of the crucible in which familiar themes are recast in art and literature. Is the resulting cross-disciplinary mashup an homage to what is left, what is kept, and what is removed? Award-winning and New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Lethem joins artist, Urbanist, Princeton University professor of Architecture and critical-thinking futurist Marshall Brown in a conversation about what Lethem termed the “Ecstasy of Influence.” This event is part of the opening celebration and catalogue release for the exhibition The Architecture of Collage: Marshall Brown (October 2, 2022 – January 7, 2023) on view in the Contemporary and Ala Story New Media Galleries.
