Good news for Halloween enthusiasts! World Dance for Humanity is once again hosting its annual THRILLER community dance event at the Courthouse Sunken Gardens – Saturday, October 30th, 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Registration is now open for the 2021 Lompoc Hospital District Foundation Colorthon 5K at the Mission Club in Vandenberg Village on Oct. 30.

The Lobero Theatre is thrilled to announce Mischief Masquerade – Outdoor Halloween Dance Party on Saturday, October 30 at 8 PM, featuring DJ Scott Topper from K-LITE 101.7! 

Hikers and community volunteers will gather at Elings Park on Sunday, October 30th, for the annual Summit for Danny Community Climb, back this year for the first time since COVID-19.

UC Master Gardener Hugh Kelly will present online about “Soil”. Healthy soil is key for growing healthy plants in your home garden. Hugh will provide research-based information about developing and maintain living soil in your garden. UC Master Gardener Sheryl Reimers will follow Hugh and present online about “Gardening with Native Plants”. Fall is one of the best times of year to plant California natives in Santa Barbara County. Sheryl will share research-based information about why to grow native plants, and how to grow them successfully. Braille Institute is a non-profit organization whose mission is to positively transform the lives of those with vision loss. We offer a broad range of free programs, classes and services serving thousands of students of all ages helping to demonstrate that vision rehabilitation is a beginning, not an end.

We serve the community from seven centers, and hundreds of community outreach locations throughout Southern California, and lead popular national programs like Braille Challenge and Cane Quest. Our staff and volunteers understand losing your vision can be scary, but we believe it is not the end of independence, but a new way of living.

A variety of free classes, workshops and support groups are available to help you or a loved one stay active, remain independent and enjoy connections with others.
