Public Lecture: Artist Talk with Chris Kallmyer

Learn about the artist's distinctive and participatory approach to making music and art as he discusses past projects and the development of his current installation at SBMA. Rethinking the traditional audience/performer relationship, Kallmyer's workshops, installations, and site-based explorations of sound and listening have been presented in museums, concert halls, and other unexpected spaces.

Summer Carillon Recital: Jeff Davis, UC Berkeley

As part of the Fiftieth Anniversary Carillon Recital Series, Jeff Davis (University Carillonist, UC Berkeley) will present a recital from the carillon in UCSB's Storke Tower on Sunday, July 21st at 3 pm. Listeners are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on the grass outside the tower during the recital.

Campers search for inspiration both inside and outside SBMA, as they sketch and study in the Museum’s galleries and in nearby parks. Then, back in the studio, use a variety of materials to draw paint and sculpt animals in their habitats and in the Museum collection.

The Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment (SCAPE) and the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum (SBMM) are cohosting Images of Our Maritime Community, an exhibit and sale of fine art on Wednesday and Thursday, July 24 & 25. This event will feature the work of more than 150 artists and their views of our ocean, coastal vistas and Santa Barbara’s maritime life and benefit SBMM. Artwork may be viewed and purchased online at sbmm.org/public-events/scape beginning July 1, 2019. Additional artwork will be available at the show.
