UCSB Arts & Lectures presents Musical America’s 2019 Artist of the Year, Daniil Trifonov, piano on Saturday, April 30th at 7:00 p.m. at Campbell Hall.

A Gala Performance brings some of State Street Ballet’s most iconic repertoire to the Lobero stage in tribute to the patrons whose philanthropy has been key to supporting the company for 27 years.

Passion and power of the 2021-2022 season concludes in dramatic fashion with music by Mozart, Copland, and Brahms.

An exciting evening of visionary works, A Gala Performance showcases the best of State Street Ballet’s repertoire. Appalachian Spring, with choreography by Artistic Director William Soleau. The pas de deux from Executive Artistic Director Rodney Gustafson’s Romeo and Juliet. The intricate movements and athleticism of (con)version by Kassandra Taylor Newberry; upbeat music of Lawrence Welk in Laurie Eisenhower’s vivacious Bubbles; and the virtuosic elegance of the pas de deux from Don Quixote.
This legendary event will also pay tribute to beloved patrons Sara Miller McCune, Carrie Towbes, Margo Cohen-Feinberg, and Tim Mikel, and honor the great legacies of Léni Fé Bland and Michael Towbes.

Wilderness Hiking and Plants The Santa Barbara Region is home to a rich variety of both trails and habitats. Through this series of immersive classes you will learn the basic skills and awareness to explore our backcountry trails; learn about the native plants found on our trails; and deepen your connection to the natural world.

Human energy is inhibited by fear. Learn techniques to free yourself from the grip of fear so that it no longer stops or drives you, in When Love Meets Fear, a short workshop led by psychotherapist / author David Richo, PhD, MFT. Students explore the origins and meanings of fears, guilt, phobia, and panic attacks; how fears lower self-esteem and interfere with healthy relationships or authentic love. Topics include the origins and meanings of human fears of intimacy, abandonment, and closeness.

Join us for the final presentation of State Street Ballet’s 2021/22 Professional Track Program. This entertaining and upbeat afternoon will be a mixed bill featuring classical choreography by Marius Petipa, and contemporary works by State Street Ballet’s Founder and Artistic Director Rodney Gustafson, faculty members Megan Philipp and Nicole Powell, and State Street Ballet dancer Arianna Hartanov. State Street Ballet Young Dancers will also be making a guest appearance, dancing a piece by crowd-favorite Autumn Eckman. Please join us in support of these aspiring and dedicated young artists.
