Dr. Jonathan Snyder will present a talk, titled "Overlooked Horn Music from the Czech Republic, Finland, and Lithuania," on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 6-8 pm in Karl Geiringer Hall on the UC Santa Barbara campus. The talk will focus on the "Concerto for Horn and Orchestra" by Balys Dvarionas. Snyder received a Master of Music degree in Horn Performance from UC Santa Barbara, where he studied with Dr. Steven Gross.

As part of the World Music Series, Tanyaradzwa Tawengwa will collaborate with UCSB students to perform The Dawn of the Rooster, an opera that she composed to tell the story of her family during Zimbabwe's liberation struggle, on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 12 pm in Karl Geiringer Hall (Music Building, UC Santa Barbara). Tanyaradzwa is a PhD student at the University of Kentucky and an award-winning performer on the African mbira, piano, and cello. She sings in African, African American, and Western classical traditions including opera.
