SBMA's Parallel Stories partners with the Santa Barbara Symphony to explore the shared language of art and music with a special performance, inspired by the Museum’s exhibition Through Vincent’s Eyes: Van Gogh and His Sources. This unique and intimate “conversation” between art forms is introduced by Nir Kabaretti, Music & Artistic Director of the Santa Barbara Symphony, followed by a recital of music Van Gogh would have listened to and been influenced by, performed by the internationally acclaimed Silver-Garburg Piano Duo and paired with select images from the exhibition.
This performance is the second in a series of three related Parallel Stories exploring connections between art forms, allowing us to see those influences at work in the process of composition, the performance of music, and the poetry of narrative from the 19th century to the present day.
