Art in the Garden

A dozen Santa Barbara artists, most from the Mesa Artists Studio Tour, will show their work for sale in an extraordinary historic garden on the Mesa. Artists and their work will be tucked in among secluded nooks in the shady, hundred-year-old garden at 403 Loma Alta Drive which once belonged to well-known artist, Carl Oscar Borg.
Artwork on display will range from Poppy Jewett’s exuberant, bright paintings, to Sara Woodburn’s intricate woodcut prints, Wendy Brewer’s inspiring mosaics, and Sherri West’s sculptural basketry.

May 14 Rally in Support of Roe v. Wade

As part of a nationwide show of support for Roe v. Wade and a woman's right to choose, the League of Women Voters of Santa Barbara will rally and march at noon on Saturday, May 14 at De La Guerra Plaza. Look for the League banner. Concurrent rallies are planned in Ventura (651 E. Thompson

Carillon Recital: Wesley Arai and Emily O’Mahony

UC Santa Barbara University Carillonist Wesley Arai and Student Carillonist Emily O’Mahony will present a recital of solo and duet works covering a wide range of styles. The recital will feature the world premiere of a piece by UCSB undergraduate student Ethan Sifferman, performed by Emily O’Mahony.

Santa Barbara Youth Symphony

Heralded as “…a prestigious group of young, talented musicians…” by Santa Barbara SEASONS magazine, the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony brings together 70-80 gifted musicians, ages 12-18, from Santa Barbara and Ventura counties to perform works across the orchestral repertoire. This advanced ensemble instills the discipline and commitment that budding young professionals need for the next step in their careers, whether in music or another field.

The Santa Barbara Symphony is pleased to announce a new strategic partnership with Westmont College. Under the overarching artistic and curriculum oversight of our Music & Artistic Director, Nir Kabaretti and Westmont’s Dr. Michael Shasberger, the partnership brings additional resources to our music education program, new opportunities for our students, and complements our pipeline of connected programs from elementary school, to college and on to a professional orchestra.
