Under the direction of Jon Nathan, the UCSB Percussion Ensemble will present contemporary works and transcriptions for percussion solo and ensemble on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at 7:30 pm in Karl Geiringer Hall.

All skill levels are invited to experience the tradition of sketching from original works of art in current exhibitions. Museum Teaching Artists provide general guidance and all materials. Each program is open to 10 participants.

Two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and co-founder of the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash, David Crosby is heading out on tour in May and June. Joining him will be five musical friends collectively and affectionately known as the Skytrails Band (James Raymond on keys, Mai Leisz on bass, Steve DiStanislao on drums, Jeff Pevar on guitar and Michelle Willis on keyboards and vocals).

David Crosby is in the midst of an incredibly creative and powerful period, showcasing his skills as a brilliant songwriter. On this tour, he will be performing some of his best-loved songs and greatest hits from across his illustrious career alongside material from the forthcoming Skytrails band album, plus a few surprises.

Ephrat “Bounce” Asherie has shown off her formidable street dance chops as a favorite member of Dorrance Dance. A New York-based b-girl with extensive training in ballet and modern dance, the Israel native returns with her own company, revealing and exploring the complexities of street and social dance forms. Odeon, a new work for seven dancers and four musicians, brings together and remixes street and club dances including breaking, hip hop, house and vogue, set to a mix of early 20th century romantic music and popular Afro-Brazilian rhythms.

However, the state of news media has become increasingly precarious, and turbulent change is like to accelerate during this decade. Prof. Kruvand, formerly a journalist, will discuss forces and trends that have combined to create a "perfect storm," threatening American journalism's future and what we risk losing if that happens.
