Continuing its 34-year tradition of calling attention to and supporting preservation of open spaces in the natural world, the Oak Group is proud to hold its fall 2020 show to benefit NatureTrack, whose mission is to instill young students with leadership skills, attitudes, and habits for lifelong learning, and to inspire them to be respectful stewards of our natural world. 

Fall After-School Multimedia Class (via Zoom, Ages 5 – 7): Land, Sea, and Sky

Ages: 5 – 7

Move between painting and sculpting techniques as you reimagine the shapes, patterns, and textures of 2-dimensional landscapes, seascapes, and skyscapes from the Museum’s collection in 3-D. Drawing, painting, collage, and unexpected materials such as wood, wire, and modeling compound are utilized in the creation of three unique works of art during this class.

Nothing Bundt Cakes Pop-Up at The Collection

Nothing Bundt Cakes will be popping up at The Collection on select dates over the next couple of months and selling a variety of flavors of their bundlet-sized cupcakes. They will be setting up on Park View Court next to The Annex Food Hall on the following dates from 12-7 p.m.

Artificial Intelligence and Art: The Case of Harold Cohen with Justin Underhill (via Zoom)

This talk explores the work of Harold Cohen (1928 – 2016), a pioneer of art made by artificial intelligence. Cohen taught for decades at UC San Diego and wrote the art-making computer program AARON in the 1970s.

Justin Underhill, Ph.D., runs the Visualization Lab for Digital Art History at UC Berkeley and co-edits the International Journal for Digital Art History. He has published on topics ranging from Leonardo's Last Supper to Aztec architecture.

Graduate Student Lecture Recital: Chenoa Orme-Stone, Cello

Graduate cellist Chenoa Orme-Stone will present a virtual lecture recital, titled "Cello Teaching Methods: An Analysis and Application of Pedagogical Literature," in partial fulfillment of the Doctor of Musical Arts degree on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 6 pm as a YouTube Premiere via the Department of Music’s YouTube channel. The program will include cello duets by Friedrich August Kummer, Jacques Offenbach, and Jean-Baptiste Barrière, and will feature performances by Orme-Stone's cello students. Orme-Stone is a student of UC Santa Barbara Assistant Professor Jennifer Kloetzel.

Impact Ministry, a nonprofit organization in Santa Barbara dedicated to supporting marginalized individuals as they successfully transition into society, is raising money for their 3rd Annual Christmas at the Santa Barbara County Jail.
