The Santa Barbara chapter of the national organization Association for Women in Communication (AWC-SB) will examine the specific set of steps for organizations to prepare a communications response when the news is far less than good at its next meeting, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 3. The monthly meeting will be held via Zoom and the public is welcome.
Guest speaker Sheri Benninghoven APR will share her 4-decades-plus of professional communications expertise at the interactive meeting, which promises to be a lively exchange of stories, ideas, lessons, and tools. The former Communications Director of the League of California Cities and one of California’s most experienced public relations professionals in helping corporations, and state and local governments develop strategic and crisis communications programs, Ms. Benninghoven has worked with major global corporations and public agencies in the western United States. She has handled some of the Central Coast’s most recent high-profile challenges, such as the Conception dive boat tragedy, the Montecito Debris flow, and the COVID-19 response.
There is no meeting charge for AWC-SB members; there is a $10 charge for nonmembers. To register, https://www.womcom.org/content.aspx?page_id=4002&club_id=903060&item_id=1320117.
