The Santa Barbara Blues Society welcomes the West Coast Blues All-Stars on Saturday September 23 at the Carrillo Recreation Center, 100 E. Carrillo St. Doors open at 7:00pm, music begins at 7:15pm.
The West Coast Blues All-Stars is headlined by a trio of famed musicians. Pianist Fred Kaplan has appeared on innumerable albums and was an integral part of the Hollywood Fats Band, the Hollywood Blue Flames, and The Mannish Boys. Legendary guitarist Junior Watson was a member of The Mighty Flyers and Canned Heat and has played with Charlie Musselwhite, Big Mama Thornton, Kim Wilson, and many other blues greats. Saxophonist and singer Terry Hanck was in Elvin Bishop’s band for ten years and has won two Blues Music Awards as Best Horn Player of the Year.
Show opener Cameron Nichoson, founder and guitarist of local blues band East Valley Road, has performed numerous times for the Santa Barbara Blues Society: as a solo opener; with East Valley Road; and as a guest performer with past headliners Bob Margolin, Bob Corritore, and Sugaray Rayford.
