For their Fall 2017 Concert, the UCSB Chamber Choir, under the direction of Grey Brothers, and the UCSB Women’s Chorus, under the direction of Tyler Reece, will perform “Choral Reflections,” a concert of meditative sacred music from various traditions by composers of diverse backgrounds. The Women’s Chorus program will highlight Karl Jenkins’ Adiemus, Ernani Aguiar’s Salmo 150, Libby Larsen’s While We are on Earth, and Jocelyn Hagen’s Moon Goddess, and will include music by Gerald Cohen, Robert De Cormier, Joan Szymko, and John Rutter. The Chamber Choir will perform favorites including Ola Gjeilo’s Ubi caritas, Morten Lauridsen’s O magnum mysterium, and Ernest Bloch’s Silent Devotion and Response from Sacred Service, as well as more adventurous repertoire by Arvo Pärt and Gabriel Jackson. Knut Nystedt’s Ave Maria, a virtuosic piece for solo violin and a cappella chorus, will anchor the performance. Friday, November 17, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church (1500 State St.).
