TRAP’S FINAL BIG STAGE SHOW at the LOBERO
Non-Profit Celebrating 25 Years of Service
The Rhythmic Arts Project (TRAP) announced its’ big benefit for the year, noting the quarter of a century milestone this Concert is celebrating. Crowning 25 years of this essential non-profit and the musicians who made great shows possible to support it, Eddie Tuduri, founder of TRAP, announced this would be his last big show at the Lobero. “This is the last big one. Maybe smaller gatherings can still happen. I’ll still want to get together and jam with my pals,” he said with a smile. The love on stage between the musicians at the TRAP Benefits is palpable, then rolls off into the audience for a truly electric experience. If you’ve never seen this show, now’s the time as it won’t happen again like this. “We are celebrating 25 years of service worldwide where TRAP programs continue to touch and change lives daily,” noted Tuduri. Sidemen and women have played on more than a thousand different albums & CDs we’ve all listened to and will be on stage to entertain you with familiar tunes & originals in the music styles from Rock n’ Roll and R&B to Gospel. The stage is jam-packed with all these great musicians, vocalist’s monitors and a room full of drums…jamming. Tuduri knows all these musicians personally who have repeatedly stepped up to help and honor the work TRAP does with kids and adults who are developmentally disabled. “Reading, writing, arithmetic, social skills and creative thinking find their way into the brains of all our students, young and old. The TRAP benefit reaches into the furthest parts of the brain to bring a cohesive feeling of togetherness – to be a part of something special, not apart from because of differences,” said Tuduri. TRAP is a great equalizer.
R&B, Rock, and Gospel will be what the audience will hear from the featured band Pockets is a band of studio players and vocalists who combined and individually have graced the albums and CDs of a thousand artists over the years. “Pockets” players are Carl Graves (lead vocals), Jimmy Calire (keyboard), Derol Caraco (guitar), Steve Nelson (bass), Bill Bodine (trumpet), with Salinas, Mackey & Hunter (horns) plus percussionists Luis Conte, Rick Geragi, and Chris Trujillo. Guest drummers: Tony Braunagel, Willie Ornelas and Eddie Tuduri. Guest Vocalists: Leslie Lembo and Shawn Thies (vocals); Teresa James and Terry Wilson and Tony Braunagel -The Rhythm Tramps and Kenny Lewis and Diane Steinberg Lewis (Steve Miller Band). Plus, our TRAP students, as always: Ben, Dion, Karen, Ryan and Zayde.
For the first five to ten minutes of intermission, be ready for the live auction with auctioneer Jim Fiolek. TRAP will have three signed guitars to up the ante on fundraising potential. Professional auctioneer Fiolek will preside over the auction. We have three guitars to auction: One signed from the complete Zack Brown Band, Ace Freely from Kiss, and Jack Casady signed Ukulele. “We also have a signed Gold record presented to Chris Pinnick during his five-year tenure with “Chicago” in the ’80s.” Pinnick, the guitarist for the TRAP band Pockets, has played in nearly every benefit since the start but has to sit this out. We’ll miss the loveable curmudgeon,” Eddie said with a wink. The band Pockets has played together and supported The Rhythmic Arts Project for 25 years. Tuduri enthused, “Talk about a great bunch of musicians.”
Music Academy of the West joins in this year’s festivities with its’ children’s choir SING! They will sing the opening song, a gospel tune Tuduri wrote with Kenny and Diane Lewis years ago called ” Let the Children Live Another Day” with a full band and several pro singers.” Now, these are some real celebrities.
Benefit tickets range from $25 for students to $56 for General; VIP tickets include special seating for the show & VIP Reception is $81.
