Anacapa School is thrilled to announce the return of renowned professional surfer, Shaun Tomson, to inspire and motivate students on a journey of self-discovery and purpose. This visit marks a homecoming for Shaun, as he takes his inspirational program back to the place where his extraordinary journey began. In the Acknowledgements section of his book, The Code, Shaun thanks the students at Anacapa School and credits some of their responses as the inspiration behind the lesson titles in the book. One student, Diego Villareal, now a Spanish teacher at Anacapa School can’t wait for Shaun’s upcoming presentation: ”I’m looking forward to hearing how his presentation has evolved over the years, and I’m very excited for the students to get to hear from someone like Shaun Tomson.”
Tomson, widely celebrated for his achievements in the world of professional surfing, has been sharing his passion for life and self-discovery through his empowering program, The Code Method, which has impacted students globally. The Anacapa community is honored to welcome him back as he embarks on a mission to ignite the spark of purpose in the hearts and minds of students, teachers, and administration alike.
The heart of Tomson’s program lies in empowering students to discover their own personal code—a set of principles and values that guide them in their journey through life. The Code Method is an evidence-based intervention consisting of a keynote, workshop, CODE statement & gratitude letter.
The Anacapa community is excited to seize the opportunity for its students to engage in a self-empowerment program consisting of 12 promises, forming a hopeful connection between the present and the future. This simple tool is designed to assist students in clarifying their purpose, making positive decisions, and fostering positive change. The project aligns seamlessly with the school’s commitment to foster creativity, resilience, and a sense of purpose in its students.
Head of School, Mari Talkin, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming event, stating, “Shaun has an amazing life story, and his dedication to improving the lives of young people through purposeful reflection, action, and accountability is inspiring to both students and educators.”
The visit is scheduled for Thursday, February 15th, at 1:00 pm, and Anacapa School extends a warm invitation to local media to attend this special event. For further information or to RSVP, please contact Summer Foster at summer@anacapaschool.org.
